Armour and Clothing

Armour

Every character has the following slots for armour:

Armour is worn on top of/with clothing and jewelry. They do not interfere with each other being worn.

Shields are listed under weapons instead of armour. This is because they take up a weapon slot (one of your hands) and you can also use them to attack, albeit weakly.

Pieces of armour may take up one or more of these slots. Only one piece of armour can exist within a slot. Each grouping of armour slots offers protection to the same target on the body. Head and neck armour provide protection to the head. Torso armour provides protection to the torso. Arm, shoulder, hand and ring armour provide protection to their respective arm (although rings are unlikely to provide normal armour bonuses). Leg and foot armour provide protection to their respective legs.

Every piece of armour has a hit point counter. These points are removed before your health points when taking physical damage. Additionally, pieces of armour will receive bonus hit points based on your skill using it. The amount of bonus hit points will vary from piece to piece. Every piece of armour will also have a "damage threshold" listed. This represents the maxuimum damage that your skill can mitigate in a single attack. ie. if a piece of armour has 20 HP, your skill raises that by 10 and it has a threshold of 5, and then your take a hit of 8 damage, you will lose only 5 of your skill derived hit points, and the remaining 3 damage will go to the armour's main hit points.

Damage taken to skill derived hit points can be repaired quickly in the field by anyone skilled with using the armour. Damage taken to the armour's base HP will take time to repaired and can only be repaired in a long rest.

If a piece of armour's base hit points reaches 0, then it is fully broken and cannot be used until repaired.
