Appraise can be used to determine the value of items. Generally speaking, the more valuable an item, the greater the DC to value it accurately.
The following table shows item values and the required DCs. If a character is unable to determine a certain quality of an item that would affect its value (eg. if an item is magical but appears mundane), then the roll is moot and a value will be significantly lower than what is real. Prices are shown in gold pieces.
Item Value Range | Appraise DC |
---|---|
0-499 | Automatic pass |
500-1999 | 10 |
2000-9999 | 20 |
10000-49999 | 30 |
50000+ | 35 |
Given the nature of the official setting, many items won't have a real ascribed monetary value, outside of trades with demons of enchonia and/or silent merchants.
