First Era

Birth of the Pantheon and the Dragons

The First Era began with the creation of the Material Plane. The day of the Material Plane's creation is considered to be the "first day" in most calendar systems. All dates given in these historical pages are written in the Bohoori calendar. This was day 1 of year 1 of the First Era. Prior to the First Era, Tanselia and Noctoria had their own planes of existence. Tanselia created Elentius, who created the Elemental Planes of Fire, Earth, Water and Air and the Elementals that inhabit them. Tanselia drew power from the Elemental Planes to create the Material Plane and life on it.

The earliest life forms were of course plants. Tanselia experimented with simple, animalistic life before creating a race of reptiles that she referred to as Dragons, intended to serve as an improvement on the crude Elementals that Elentius has created on his planes. As a basis for these Dragons, Tanselia had in fact used elementals which had strayed from their plane into the material plane. Four different races of Dragon were created, each affiliated with a different element. Noctoria's stake on the Material Plane was also not to be ignored, so two of these races were imbued with gifts from Tanselia and Noctoria. The Dragons of water were Tanselia's children, while those of Fire carried Noctoria in their veins. The dragons of Air and Earth remained true to their Elemental roots and hailed to Elentius. All dragons heavily infused with divine energies, their forms would be fluid even within their elements. Some would take on humanoid shapes, others would be gargantuan beasts walking on all fours.

Unable to visit the Material Plane, herself, Tanselia birthed Mentecrius to bring language to these creatures. Language was, however, something of an afterthought for Tanselia with regards to these creatures. Thus far, everything she had created had no need for language beyond basic non-verbal communication. As such, they had not been given physical traits required for speech. The Dragons did, however, have great and fine control over their bodies. Therefore, Mentecrius devised a complex sign language, making full use of all the ways in which all the different dragon forms could move and taught this to the Dragons. The Dragon races thrived and built civilisations making full use of their elemental abilities.

Mentecrius left the Material Plane for his own Divine Plane on the 42nd day of the 312th year of the First Era.

Expansion of the Pantheon

Intrigued by the invention of language, Kronorus formed another plane of existence within which a new deity, Adu, would reside. Her purpose to explore how meaning can be interpretted. To this end, she became the deity of prophecy, able to see the future and determined to express what will come in terms that reflect the ability of the future to change. (291.315.01)

Noctoria created Bubublzubbubb to spread a natural decay to the world, bringing death into it in a more tanglible way. Not only would life decay and die, but so should everything. Noctoria grew too restless at awaiting the death of Tanselia's creations through these natural means, so birthed Samudinun to bring war and cruelty to the world.(4-16.316.01)

Along with the two new deities spawned two new planes of existence, each rendered in their God's image.

Unknown to Noctoria, she had created Sentanus at the same time as Samudinum. Formed from all there is to killing that Samudinun did not embody. Finesse, honour and precision. Even in his conception, Sentanus was something of an unknown quantity. The plane of existence which formed for him is impenetrable to the other deities. Only Sentanus, his followers, his demons and perhaps Kronorus know what lies within.

Appauled at the creations of Noctoria, and declaring them to be evil, Tanselia created Tyronidus as a champion deity to seek out and destroy evil wherever it may be found. (19.316.01)

Tyronidus saw that destroying evil was not always enough. It would crop up all over the place and would do harm before it could be destroyed. To fix the gap in his own remit, he created Praectus, dedicated to the protection of the world. (146.316.01)

In a bid to counteract the dark in a less direct way, Tanselia created Helonapon and Apolenun to spread joy throughout the material plane. Helonapon invented games and spread them throughout the world. Apolenun birthed joy from his music and gave knowledge of music to the inhabitants of the world. (294.316.01)

As society grew, so did a need for economy and trade. Naturally, different groups and civilisations of Dragon would trade with one another. From this trade, a deity was born. Enchonia, The Godess of Commerce and Trade, would take the spotlight and grant financial success to any who would pray to her. (44.327.01)

By her very nature, Enchonia stood for personal freedom, even at the expense of others. Different people would take this in different ways, however, and two more deities born of how people treated liberty were born. Kandorae, representing a freedom of spirit and Bankoorsreks, representing true selfishness as a virtue. (67.327.01)

Birth of the Humanoid Races

Not content with her creations, on the 73rd day of the 496th year of the First Era, Tanselia decided to create more life, this time not divine in nature. She wished for more consistency in form and utility.

First, the Lizardman was created. Intended as a non-divine version of the life that already existed, playing on the humanoid forms some of the Dragons would naturally end up taking on. (73.496.01)

Following that, the catfolk, the ratfolk and the wolfmen were born. Tanselia combining more life with the humanoid form. (146-239.496.01)

Once she had perfected the animal-folk races, the elves were created: light and dark, created in the images of Tanselia and Noctoria. (240-251.496.01)

Off the back of her Dark Elves, Tanselia created Orcs. Much more physical prowess, but without the brainpower of their elven cousins. A mockery of Noctoria. (252.496.01)

Tanselia desired to create a clear definition for a baseline humanoid form and thus created the Humans. A well rounded race to serve as the default that others would be designed against. (301.496.01)

Shortly following the creation of the humans, Noctoria laid claim to the catfolk, ratfolk and wolfmen, decreeing them creatures of the night and agents of death, each in their own right. The catfolk and ratfolk remained as they were, but the race of wolfmen were intertwined with humanity in a way Tanselia would never have expected. (350.496.01)

Tanselia decided that a smaller form would be able to be more powerful with fewer resources and created the Dwarves. (345.496.01)

Gnomes (356.496.01)

Halflings (364.496.01)

Draconic Order

The Dragons always treated the humanoid races as underlings but it wasn't until 201.554.1 that the Draconic Order was officially established. Laws were put in place to actively limit the rights of non-draconic life. The Dragons recognised that while the humanoid races were generally weaker both physically and mentally compared with the Dragons, their numbers were vast compared with that of the Dragons. The primary goal of the Draconic Order was to maintain the Draconic race as the superior race.

The vast majority of Dragons, of course, supported this notion. There were, however, select groups that wanted to live alongside the humanoids as beings with equal societal worth. Most of these were Water Dragons, preaching that Tanselia has not decreed anything along the lines of draconic superiority.

The Dragon Wars

In the year 808, the Humanoid Races, not content with being mere slaves to these Dragon overlords decided to rebel. This war would last for over 200 years.

Should talk about early resistence movements here

Something about Travis Thorne and Aelgar Faelean should go here

Devout follower of Samudinun, Gannen Unn, waged war against the Dragons until his hatred became so great that he wished for the entire world's end, as he claimed it was made for them and not for the humans. He captured four dragons, one of each element, and performed an abonimable ritual upon them, sapping their divine essence. With this, became immensely powerful and raged across the land, slaying dragons by the thousands, each kill adding to his power, until the dragons were no more. All that remained of them was within him now, so with the power he had obtained, he obliterated himself, causing great destruction all around. His power too great to simply die and his soul intertwined with so much divine energy, his soul was transported out of the material plane and a new plane formed around him. He had become Ganenun, God of Destrucion. (40-44.1021.01)

End of the First Era

The first era truly ended with the end of the Dragon Wars and the extinction of the Dragons. (44.1021.01)

The Humanoid races split off and began forming their own civilizations. These civilizations forming marked the early Second Era. (01.01.02)

Fearing her prophecies may end up lost to time, Adu created the final deity, Pascalentue, to keep knowledge and retain it through the eras. The world was rapidly changing and even though even he would not be able to ensure all information was retained, without him, all of it would surely be lost. (03.01.02)
